A lame song by Supernova again…
Toby sang his heart out today but the song itself was hardly something you’d expect from the ex-members of Metallica, Motley Crue and GNR. And when they say in their blog that they want to bring back the era of stadium rock I do expect big things. Either they bring out a killer anthem or say something really meaningful with the lyrics. Right now all we are hearing is some semi-retired legends putting out songs that are… well to put it mildly kinda confused[Video link to Dilana singing Supernova's "Leave the Light's on" below]. Maybe I’m being too harsh but expectations are bound to be high when such marquee names get together.
The bottom three was a bit of a surprise again. I expected Lukas and not Magni. Icelanders need to back their man and get up a little early from now on(show’s on at 4-5 am there). Since we got to hear him sing a pretty good rendition of Fire by Jim Hendrix maybe it wasn’t such a bad deal. Especially since Toby’s rendition of Plush was inconsistent and after a good start he kind of completely lost his tempo midway through the song. Was it coz of having to sing two songs on one night I wonder. In any case I’m not convinced Toby can do justice to any of the grunge classics. Simply doesn’t put in any emotions just bland singing/screaming.
In the end Patrice was the one to go as expected. Some of the songs she performed in earlier weeks got a bit big for her voice. She still managed to have some good moments[including My Iron Lung- video link above] so guess should be quite content to get so far. Anyway after this week I’ll probably view Supernova as just another Reality TV event, not much more. Have my doubts if I’ll consider buying their records unless the other original songs are radically better.

Dilana is a Star already, I’m sure all of the Band realized that from day one.
They have tryed very hard to turn one of the hopeful men into one to compare with her. There are certainly a varity of talent among the group
who will receive offers and do very well., But as match for you unabashed
ego centric overgrown boys! Dilana is a more than as equal. For you not to
select Dilana, means I believe you want something of own creation more
easily manipulated. Then why don’t each of you, shoot off a toe, if your ready to settle for less than the best. Because Dilana seems to hold you in high regard, I hope she is selected. But as for needing you, I believe you need her more. I will try to obtain every thing she dose, as she is a completely fantastic entertainer who has won a devoted new fan.

Dilana seems to have really earned(deservedly) a lot of fans with her performances in the show. Not sure why the show has kind of edited recent episodes to show her negative side. Just Reality TV I guess. They need to create drama even if none is there.
Still don’t think I’ll buy any Supernova cd’s or see their live acts. Not my type of music.

After all the love showered on Lukas by Tommy Lee it will be a major upset if he isn’t the winner. Will be fun to see Lukas(if he indeed wins) do the Dilana SN song. Will he agree to have scantily clad dancers too in live performances ? Now that is something I can watch. Lukas formerly of Rise Electric grinding it out with dancers normally found in Maddona/Britney Spears’s concerts

[...] I’m already beginning to miss following all the singers every week in Rockstar: Supernova. So one of the things I’m doing now(to tide over my withdrawal symptoms !) is to look back at some of the performances. I realise now that this Supernova song is the one with which they try best to fit in with the Glam rock 70’s kind of sound. Also the lyrics are probably similar to songs of that era with lots of sexual double innuendo. Must admit that one of my perverse thoughts seeing the video again now was to see Lukas on stage with all the go-go dancers on this song and (accidentally ?) kicking one of them off with his Mick Jagger impersonations drunk-but-not-dead swagger Leave the Light’s on( Rockstar: Supernova) [...]

I was 100% sure that Toby was going to win. Reason being is that Dilana is too good for Supernova (..oops I mean Rockstar:Supernova) and she could do way better with a solo career or another band.
It sent chills from head to toe when I heard Lukas won. I was like, “haha funny joke, now say Dilana’s name.”
Lukas is pretty good, but I just HATE his grungy vocals/screaming. I couldnt understand a word when he sand Be Yourself. I compared it with Toby’s version and I was like, “Idiots! You guys made a huge mistake!”
I too am missing Rockstar. Now the only memories of the songs are the ones in my iPod…

Pierce: I was 100% sure Lukas will win so found the finale a bit predictable. I did follow some of the reports of people who went to the tapings and seems they edited a lot of comments out. Tommy Lee almost gave it away it seems 4 weeks back while gushing over Lukas.
Dilana did get what she wanted a record deal with a good label. So everything happened for the best. I think Lukas’s vocals will have to improve a lot to match either Magni or Toby’s on the two songs they did with the band. Anyway let’s hope these singers actually do make a mark in their careers… for they do have talent.
